Auslogics BitReplica can help you preserve your files from accidental losses, such as those caused by power cuts, hardware failure, virus attack and hacking. The program´s interface makes it quite easy to use; however, if you do not have much experience or background, you could probably need to consult its online help documentation.

Everything starts when you create a profile, which in other similar software is called “task” or “job”. A profile contains the data you want to back up, the target destination, the backup method, and a schedule. Fortunately, there is a wizard to help you in the creation of a new profile. Once you have finished this initial step, every profile you have created will be available from the program´s main window from where it is possible to make further adjustments.

The program supports backing up various types of data. In this regard, it is allowed to make copies not only of custom files and folders but also an email client and browser data. Likewise, you can store the backups in different locations, such as local folders, portable devices, network drives and even cloud storage services.

Selecting a suitable backup method is probably the hardest part if you are a beginner. For example, there is the simple method, which just sends all the files to the destination without making any changes there. The exact backup method, on the other hand, deletes all files in the destination that are no longer present in the source. Other available methods are full, incremental and differential backups. Depending on your needs and time availability, you can choose any of these methods; however, it is important to know that a wrong choice may lead to data loss. Unfortunately, unlike other programs of the same type, Auslogics BitReplica does not let you preview the results before actually running the backup.

The program supports other types of configuration. In this respect, you can use personalized rules to exclude specific files and zip the resulting backup data in multiple volumes. Likewise, you can automate backup tasks to run with a given frequency.

In general, Auslogics BitReplica certainly deserves a try. The product is shareware and permits three trials at no cost. It is also good to know that it has quite an affordable price.
